I apologize again for being so pokey in writing the weekly challenge. I usually try to get them posted here by Sunday so you can prepare for the next week. Alas a hurricane and broken computer nearly did me in but here we are. To earn the daily/weekly bonus points this week you need to:
1. Weigh and measure yourself (the competition requires waist and hips measurements but I like to take bust, abdomen, thigh and arm as well) and put these secret numbers in a safe place. No you do NOT have to share them with me. You will weigh weekly and report your results weekly. You will take measurements at 4 and 8 weeks.
2. Join my fitnesspal.com and if you haven't already done so add 3 new friends (note you can find them in my e-mail headers)
3. Read or re-read the FAQ's and RULES tabs on the blog
4. Make sure I have ALL of your and your partner's contact info (cell phone #, e-mail address and snail mail address)
5. This week make sure you and your partner touch base with each other every day in some way. Work on encouraging each other daily in creative ways to get on track with healthy living.
6. I have a good friend that is joining us again for this round of competition and today she asked me "What are you going to eat on the challenge?" I know when you commit to getting on track with healthy living there are things you are going to cut out or cut way back on and that's a bit sad. But are there healthy foods you look forward to eating? To earn the bonus challenge points for this week (35 points for the week) put a comment on this blog with something healthy you are looking forward to enjoying while on this challenge. It can be a recipe or just an easy treat (like frozen grapes). I am hoping we can all benefit from lots of great ideas of healthy things to enjoy!
Now have an awesome week and next week check here around Sunday for our next week's challenge!
I am looking forward to just getting back on track again but especially eating my fruits and vegetables on a regular basis. I feel so much better when I do.
ReplyDeleteCottage cheese with fruit mmmmmmm
ReplyDeletethanks for the reminder Janet. Cottage cheese in fruit is something I love but I have often bought the cottage cheese and never remembered to eat it. I needed the reminder!

ReplyDelete;')
DeleteI love eating vegetables with hummus for a snack!
ReplyDeleteme too one of my favorites
DeleteMore fruit, less candy
ReplyDeleteI wish the answer was more candy less fruit. I love candy especially anything gummy
DeleteI'm looking forward to eating spaghetti squash with meat sauce!
ReplyDeleteI had spaghetti squash last night- one of may favs!
DeleteAnd they are so tasty this time of year!
DeleteMore salad, veggies and fresh tomatoes!!! Recently I have been too full to eat this good stuff!!!
ReplyDeleteGetting creative with veggies :) Last time I did the challenge I found fun ways to get my daily veggies and I think I've forgotten all of them in the meantime.
ReplyDeleteMore vegetables and less sugar! Often I buy vegetables and then because they require some amount of preparation, they sit in the fridge until they are no good and get thrown out. I plan to come home from the grocery store and wash/cut up the veggies before I put them away! Then when I get the munchies or get ready to cook dinner I can grab ready-to-go veggies instead of feeling like it is too much trouble to prep before I can eat them.
ReplyDeleteA good reminder! I'm going to be a wise steward of my veggies
DeleteFall veggie soups and spaghetti squash.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to eat more vegetables!
ReplyDeleteI love a simple salad with feta cheese, pears and my homemade balsamic dressing. I will also continue to try and keep up with my zucchini and tomatoes from the garden.
ReplyDeleteWish you lived nearby so I could share your garden goodies! I have too much shade for a garden
DeleteSeasonal fruits and veggies
ReplyDeleteI always crave salty snacks so air-popped popcorn with a little salt is one of my go-to low calorie snacks
ReplyDeleteI love skinny pop from Costco. No additives and yum!
DeleteI am trying to just increase my veggie and fruit intake. And wait 15 minutes before I look in the fridge (or freezer) for a craving. -Amy Webb

ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to my all veggie homemade soup that I never make unless I'm on a diet or a challenge! Not sure why it's so easy to get away from healthy eating when I feel SO much better doing it! Candy
ReplyDeleteI made some minestrone soup last week. Here in Florida we don't wait for cool weather to eat soup or we would never get to eat any
DeleteI am NOT a social media girl....I've spent the better part of an hour between last night and this morning trying to post to this blog and I still can't figure out how to make my name show up! So I put my name at the end of my post! But it's posted now! Candy
ReplyDeleteYay!
DeleteHrrrm, have to say salads and learning some new, healthier dishes in general will be what I look forward to the most. I'm not much of a veggie eating person, much to my dismay, but who knows, maybe I just need to think outside the grocery box and try something really new to get me going! Good time as ever to try I suppose.
ReplyDelete( Also this is Samantha Rowland! Forgot I had an old account on here.)
My daughter (the dietician) is not a big veggie eater either. She eats way more fruit.
DeleteI am going to get back to making healthy, refreshing smoothies, the perfect afternoon pick-me-up.
ReplyDeleteGetting back on track. I need the reminder that I can do it. I enjoy trying the different veggies and fruits that I find along the way. I have learned to love many different things.

ReplyDeleteI need to feel I am doing something just for me. To feel better, look better, etc.
ReplyDeleteI plan on eating the yummy fruits of the seasons - pears, peaches, nectarines, in place of sugary treats. I'm also enjoying all my garden vegetables. I'm getting really clever with zucchini :)
ReplyDeleteOne of my secrets is roasting fruit. Even fruit that is wilty and sad is yum. I just chunk it up and sprinkle cinnamon on it and then cook it at 425 for 20-40 minutes. It caramelizes the sugar in the fruit and is spectacular
DeleteSounds yummy!
DeleteOne thing I enjoyed from the last challenge I did, and an easy way for me to get my veggie intake for the day, was a simple tomato and cucumber salad w/dressing. Besides whatever dressing you choose, it is hardly any calories and I love tomatoes and cucumbers so it's a win-win! I also really enjoy smoothies and have not had one in a while. YUM!
ReplyDeleteI love a simple tomato, onion, cucumber sometimes avocado salad with a splash of good balsamic vinegar. Yum.
DeleteI love making olive garden salad, yum!!
ReplyDeleteI love making olive garden salad, yum!!
ReplyDeleteTaco salad with lite sour cream mixed with salsa for dressing. I like grapes or an apple with walnuts for breakfast. Exchanging apples for tomatoes in salads after tomatoes go out of season. And imitating restaurant salads at home.
ReplyDeletegreat suggestions!
DeleteI'm looking forward to green smoothies. I started today with one and I'm feeling better already!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been on a scale for more than two years. I bought one at Costco and went through the painful reality check. Now that I can no longer deny what I already knew I do look forward to use this tool to achieve and maintain a healthier weight.

DeleteI am looking forward to eating more fish and beans and drinking more water. Ice water is quite refreshing.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to making infused water with lots of sliced fruit and vegetables and herbs. Today is green peppers and lemon. Yum!
ReplyDeleteLeslie give us more details. Do you have a special cup that has an area to put the fruit, veggies or herbs to they will "infuse" into the water or how do you do it? I have given up artificial sweeteners and soda so I am looking for ways to jazz up my water
DeleteI love the idea of roasting fruits! I am totally going to try this tonight as we are slated to have breakfast for dinner :o)
ReplyDeleteI'm interested in learning more ways to cook veggies, new veggies to introduce and ways to incorporate fiber into my diet better - all for me and the kids!
ReplyDeleteLots of delicious smoothies!! My kids love them too :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to lots of salads!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for the required fruits and veggies...I will be eating lots of cucumbers!
ReplyDeletelooking forward to eating more veggies for breakfast sauteed and combined with scrambled eggs. Carlene Parker
ReplyDeleteSharing this, since I am finally done nursing and can finally eat Cauliflower again. It's my FAVORITE way to eat it - http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/roasted-cauliflower-recipe.html
ReplyDeleteThe healthy thing I'm looking forward to during this challenge isn't actually a food, but rather exercise. I love to hike and don't make it a priority. This is exactly what I need to make hiking a part of my life again.

ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to this challenge and eating healthier. I know when I do I have more energy. I enjoy eating fresh vegetables from the garden. I noticed that pintrest has clean eating recipies that I am looking into to help me with creating meal choices.
ReplyDeleteThere are some great clean eating recipes- Yum!
DeleteI love drinking a glass of hot lemon water in the morning before I eat anything!
ReplyDeleteI heard a super model advise doing this. I've got to give it a try.
DeleteI am looking forward to trying some of the ideas posted. So for veggies - my favorite veggies are stir fried zucchini and onions & peppers in a bit of sesame oil for that Japanese steakhouse experience at home. I add lots of garlic and grated ginger with a splash of White Rice Vinegar. No meat or rice required.
ReplyDeleteMmm I'm going to try that. I love sesame anything
DeleteI'm looking forward to eating more salads. I love them but don't take the time to make them. My goal this time around is to cut up the veggies as soon as I get home with them. I figure I will have time to grab cut up veggies and make a great salad really quick
ReplyDeleteI get a mental block against salads like I think they are so so hard to make. But I actually make really good salads and they honesty only take a few moments. I need to push myself
DeleteWhen I'm in need of something sweet and/or a little bit of protein, I love to pop half of a Quest Protein Bar in the microwave. My favorite flavors are Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Double Chocolate Chunk. Guilt-free and yummy! I'm looking forward to not feeling dependent on sweets and learning how to satisfy my nutritional needs with tasty foods.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to eating a sweet potato, mashed, with some raisins on top. I don't add butter or anything to the sweet potato before I mash it and it is excellent for a breakfast food, or a nice snack.
